It has been an interesting few years to say the least. There have been many changes and challenges across the board. However I want to talk about the most important thing that’s emerged from it all – acceptance.
Acceptance can mean something different to everyone depending on their character and their reality: Ownership, Responsibility, Alignment, Fluidity, etc.
Personally I’ve chosen to view acceptance as a deep embracing of things as they are, and after a long journey I’ve come to align my mind and heart with the reality that life isn’t what I thought should be and to make my priority goal to enjoy life’s ride.
There’s an incredible amount of friction that’s created when the mind is at war with how things actually are. It fights it in all sorts of ways and pain seems to compound, however the solution is simple when we are willing to do the work: I believe that connecting to our heart and making it the bridge is the only way to close the gap between mind and reality.
But what does this actually mean? For me it means to take difficult situations in our life, remove all judgment, shame, betrayal and limited beliefs. And instead choose to apply a whole lot of understanding, love and compassion!
And honestly, this is a never-ending journey but it does get easier each time around. Every setback, every wound, each and every time life brings a new test to the table, I find power in my personal growth and the tools I’ve acquired along the way.
In this chapter of my journey I choose to accept that I can’t change what happened… but I do choose what happens next and that thought alone gives me courage and peace. Choose to surrender to your past –accept it, and move forward with a calm mind and a grateful heart. I can assure you after witnessing some of the bravest people I know truly own this, that there is a bright, joyful future ahead; we just have to do the work and create space for it.
